What is the gallons per hour of your pump and the gallons per hour of your overflow?

Try putting a pipe elbow on the pipe intake and aiming down to prevent a water vortex from forming.

Otherwise, adding more water to the tank will increase the level in the return section.If you have an auto-top off, raising the sensor to your desired water level.

I have a jebao dct 5000 I believe.. and I have no idea about my overflow it’s a Herbie style so I can control it. But I built my sump wrong sooo

Yes sir but then I have to adjust the overflow to stop noise so I end up with the same amount of water in return chamber.

Move the media balls into the center chamber. That should free up a little bit more space in the return pump chamber. +1 Crab McJones idea of an elbow on the return pump facing the bottom of the chamber. Can the sump handle all the water in the system if pumps are shut off?

If i understand this correctly, just add more water. Just make sure that when your pump is off the sump doesn't over flow. You also have to make sure your overflow is able to drain the water backin to the sump Fast enough. Then you will be fine.

dial down your return pump and adjust the overflow valve accordingly. Sure, it'll take some fine tuning to get it right and also, like Shark suggested, add more water to get the level where you want it and set your ATO sensor at that height.

Yes the sump can handle all the water.. cause it doesn’t take long for water to reach just under the weir

Still working on getting an ato.. right now I’m just using the good ol Sharpie mark and making sure it’s atvthe right level couple times a day lol

if another baffle is needed in the return section you could always temporarily place your pump in the middle chamber with a longer hose and siphon the water out of the end chamber to add another baffle an inch or so off the bottom. That should be sufficient to slow your flow rate through the sump..it could help matters as long as your pump still fit.

those pipes look like 1" PVC correct? I think they are rated for 500pgh roughly your return pump should be slightly less then that or the overflow will never keep up to the pump.. that may be inaccurate but I thought I read that amount before elsewhere

1 inch PVC can handle approximately 2200 gallons per hour under pressure. For gravity drain itd approximately 600-800 depended on setup

sorry @overclockwise … a 90 elbow on your return pump's inlet facing the bottom of the sump will reduce the likelihood of siphoning air. Oversize it to be sure.

Oh oh I see!! Na that my tank Is actually perfectly silent.. you can’t wven hear the return it’s dead silentvrgw only thing you can hear is the old used skimmer I bought
