I just set up my solar powered battery back up and it's up and running so now I have to program my apex to run some equipment when the power goes out. I want to run an air pump a heater the controller at least my led reef bright or the lunars and maybe my wavebox with four korelias.I figure the leds will pull less energy than the t5s.the korelias are optional the rest is a must.I do have two high capacity batteries so my power reserve is a lot more than a upc pluss they will be recharging on there own with the solar panels I've run it for a week and it's running good. I need to get an automatic power switch yet in order to switch the power from ac to dc power if the power goes out. So now I am ready to program the apex and I have No idea were to begin .so I'm open to all suggestions

well got to try out my battery backup this weekend with the big storm we had friday. It did it's job and saved my tank. We lost power about 2:30 friday Till today sunday . We had a 20k generator sitting in the backyard that the guy putting it in hadn't hooked up yet.So I had to hook up the battery backup and ran it till the generator was operational at about 4:30 sat afternoon the only thing I had to do was hook my truck up to the batteries outside just to make sure there was enough battery through the night . I ran the sump and one of my korelias with plenty of power. Idid not run the controller on it though just the basics.

you might be able to do if power statements if you keep the main unit powered off of the 12v and backed up. you could also enable power monitor and use the 12v input as what triggeres a loss of power event. you would need an EB that is backed up on the battery however

Also you can look for a standby inverter like those used in RV's that runs off of the 120v line until power loss and then it will cut over to battery automatically.

I used one of these until it fried :( it was really handy but I needed to add multiple deep cycles and not just one.
