Why does my alk fluctuate so much when not dosing anything

Your reef will consume different levels of alkalinity based on the time of day, etc. Plus if your Trident isn't calibrated correctly you may see swings larger than the alkalinity actually is.

IMO this is not that abnormal so wouldn't worry about it at this point.

I did calibrate it using the provided solution but not sure if I did it correctly, I took sample home into the calibration solution primed it then calibrated it

I did calibrate it using the provided solution but not sure if I did it correctly, I took sample home into the calibration solution primed it then calibrated it

Myself (and many others) calibrate using tank water and manually enter the test results from our favorite Hanna, Saliftert (etc.) testers.

Those changes (+/-0.1 dKH) are very small and are most likely testing error.
