I will walk through everything I have done so far....first I bought a 26 gallon aquarium....I washed It all out.. on jan 23 I added 15 lbs of live sand and salt water and a 850gph circulation pump ...went to the reef store on January 29 and bought live rock 25 lbs..7.00 a lb. i brought it home and put it in my tank and added a 1/2 bottle of colony and a 100watt heater .. feb 06 I did a 5 gallon water change ,checked ammonia (read 0)added 4 snails and 4 crabs and another 1/2 bottle of colony and a 30'', high output T5 duel lamp....everything seems ok...however I do have a question about the live rock...I posted this already but I wanted to put it all together for you...the live rock looks awful , it is like it is shedding and the shedding is all over the rock and moving with the current in the tank...can I do something to clean it..or is this normal? it is coral from the Fiji islands. thank you so much for any help you can offer...maybe I am worrying for nothing it just doesn't look right to me ..it should look good..

Welp, not sure if you bought fully cured live rock, and if it isn't, then what you seeing is die off. It'll take care of itself though.

I would give tank 6-8 weeks to cycle and you will probably see a ammonia spike somewhere along the way.

oohh my.. ammonia means I might lose my crabs and snails...when I tested for ammonia it was 0 so I thought it was safe...I have soooo much to learn even though I read and watch videos every day.
