I need some light help, I’ve been searching for a long time and can’t seem to find the specific awnser I’m looking for.

I am currently running this light on my FOWLR tank (29 gallon):

Current(30"):https://www.aquaticlife.com/aquatic...d-aquarium-light-fixtures-with-phone-ap

Down the road I’d like to add coral. I was told that I could add one of these:

Supplement (24"): https://www.aquaticlife.com/light-f...no-saltwater-led-aquarium-light-fixtures.html

And this would meet my requirements for soft corals. If not, are there any good lights I could add to supplement my current setup? I really like the light I have, I run them on my FW tank. I’ve been nothing but happy. But they aren’t that strong.

Is running two seperate lights that have say 32 leds at .5watts the same as one light with 32 less at 1 Watt?

I’ve never used either of the lights but if you email or call aquatic life I’m pretty sure they will give you at least a directional answer. You should ask them about spectrum and par at whatever tank depth you plan to keep sps.

You can then let us know and we can weigh in.

Generally speaking yes..esp. w/ narrow bar LEd's.
All those "little ones" are lens-ed around 120 degrees so getting concentrated light deep is an issue..

might be better off w/ a less functional but stronger light.. Like this for example.:

This light will push about 50PAR to the sand bed..
Use the aquaticlife for ramp up and some color adjustment..Put the beamswork in a simple wall timer (there are some mods one can do for full programmability if you are
so inclined.

24-Inch Saltwater LED Fixture with (18) 1/2-Watt LED's, 12,000K, 9 Watts, 585 Lumens. LED's: (9) 0.5W White, (9) 0.5W Blue

I did call them. Basically they said “we haven’t tested PAR on these models”....

Thank you for your help. After I posted, I started looking around the forum. I’m almost inclined to return the light I bought and go with something like the mars aqua lights.

But the idea of a stronger light with less function is also a good thought.

UPDATE: I ditched the AquaticLife LEDs. Bought the vipraspectra black box after seeing a bunch of reviews. I think I burnt my retinas setting the time haha.

Also came up with a clever mount solutions, at least I thought so. 1/2” black pipe. Hanging about 8” from water level, where water level should be.
