So I have been pondering the idea around of buying a larger tank. Right now I have a Nuvo 40. My LFS has a 75 gallon reef ready tank and stand for $368.... I haven't asked but I think it's a marineland.
In my head this is a steal! However I need opinions.
Should I pull the trigger and do a super slow build or let it slide?

If it's something you want to do and you have the funds and the means, I say have at it! As someone who also wants to upgrade from a 40 to a 75 someday it sounds like a good deal to me :)

Ask yourself is this my final tank. Am I going to upgrade after this! If the answer is “No” maybe in about 2-3 year I will upgrade then just ride it out till your ready to go max. If the answer is yes and your happy to pay that amount then go for it. Either way good luck and enjoy.

Very true. Because swapping larger tanks is not an easy task.

Just an fyi, check the sticker on the top of the tank. It's on the inside, usually under the plastic trim and lists the manufactured date. If the tank was made in early 2016, I would pass.

I had a 180 warrantied by Marineland that never had water in it because of bad silicone. The head lady told me they used a new company from late 15 to early 16 and had a lot of problems. My tank was in this window. Now I have a 180 that was made 5/17. Much better siliconing.

Lol I have a 220g and I’m thinking about upgrading to at least 440g. I think we all have this disease [emoji23]

Yea, my take on tanks in that range is that the difference between 75, 90 and 120 aren't that much. If I was going to go with a 4' off the shelf tank, I would upgrade to one with the 24" width. The price difference for the tank isn't much, and with a 24" wide tanks, you can fit a 40B as a sump. JMHO, but I wouldn't let the price of the tank be my sole decision. In the grand scheme of things, it is a small piece of the overall price.

I like the idea of a 36 x 30 x24 tank you can use a single 250 MH light with some reefbrites, save some money on lighting, build the stand for a 48" long tank so you can fit more stuff in the sump area.

Yea, a little over 110 gallons. A single 400 Radium with a few LED strips would be an awesome tank.
