I have a innovative marine 25 lagoon , and I’m making it into a anemone tank and I don’t know what lights to use the tank is 24Lx 20Dx 12H

I love the kessil shimmer so my suggestion would be 2 A160's; depends on your budget though.

a 24 inch t5 LED hybrid could be a good choice too.

If you're not looking for any real corals though and just anemone's you could possibly get away with something as simple as a single AI Prime HD.

EDIT: I'm currently looking to build out an IM25 so my lighting options will be two Kessil A80's however I'm just going for a zoa garden so its going to require much less light than a mixed reef.

Hello,

Depending on your budget, and since you stated it’s going to be anemones tank. I don’t believe you would need to spend tons of money on a light. As people throw eggs at me, the fluval marine 2.0 (definitely get it with the WiFi. Controller) would be really good light for this application. They are more then strong enough to grow softies, and lps. Depending on the depth, you could do sps but if it’s super deep probably not. I have had amazing results with the fluval lights with anemones. Plus the best part is they are not extremely epensive. The small one that would fit your tank is like 129.00.

However, as much as I love this light, the touch button it comes with is annoying, and that’s being nice lol. Yet if you get it with the WiFi controller, then it’s controlled through your laptop or smart phone.

Hello,

That’s one of the reasons I suggested the fluval. You can set it from 0-100 from your phone. Plus it has a lower par than the Aqua Illumination, exotech, and kessil. These have worked amazing on small 24 long 9 inch deep tanks we have in our aquarium.

I couldn’t bring myself to go with a Fluval led light.. I’m torn between the hydra 26 and the prime hd

Hello,

Lol why is that? For what your trying to put in your tank, you will do more harm and damage with the hydra. It doesn’t have to be fluval. For, what your doing, and the type of coral, and size of your tank, you will need to hang the hydra from the ceiling rafters. Softies do not like lots of par, and it will kill them. You should consider the animal, and research what it thrives to live on, instead of buying name brand lights. Just because it’s a name brand light doesn’t mean you will have success with it.

The problem with the prime HD would be the spread, with the tank needing coverage of an area 24x17x12 one prime HD puck would need to be turned up pretty high to reach the edges, BRS only recommends them for a spread of 18x18 for reef aquariums. The Hyrda 26 has the same spread recommendations however is two separate LED pucks so its spread could be better.

For not worrying about too much light thats why personally I'm going for the 2 Kessil A80's. With these being two separate lights it will not be one focused LED cluster but two separate pucks distributing the light. Also the A80's are the little brother of the A160's and A360's which are 2 and 4 times as powerful as the A80. it comes in a small form factor and for anemone only could work well. That being said its going to be as expensive as the AI Prime. Two A80's will set you back $300 to include the mounting arms which are not sold with the light itself. Make that $400 if you purchase it with the A series light controller. However if you have another controller that wont be needed.

Yeah you’re probably right about the hydra, how much light do anemones even need? Anyone know like par values?

Okay. On BRS I read a lot of the reviews and they were giving them 1 stars for units failing after short amount of time
