What kind of lighting did you have before and how many bulbs on the new t5

i was using 2 Aqueon Fluorescent Strip Lights in Black with reef sun bulbs in there and the T5 is a 4 bulb in there

I would guess that the algae bloom comes from the change in light spectrum and intensity. You can try running the lights for shorter period each day and slowly increase after algae is under control

ok wat if i add some hermit crabs and more turbo snail i only have 3 turbo snail in ther now and one Emerald Crab in there now

Algae is caused by excess nutrients. Wheter its fish food or coral foods. You might try reducing your feeding untill it goes away. Also i noticed there is a window next to the tank you don't want direct sunlight into the tank. Check your water parameters and make sure everything is in check especially your nitrates and phosphates. Are you using rodi water or tap?

Your system is not used to the new lighting, your getting a bloom from this, kinda like starting a new tank and getting a diatom bloom. Gonna have to wait it out. Unless you had it before and your nutrient levels are up. But, if you didnt' have it before you changed the lights, thats where Im leaning.

the sunlight is not hitting the tank and i am using Rodi water i tested my water and it is at ammaonia .25ppm, nitrite 0, and 5.0ppm and i donot have a phosphates tester i will go get one tomorrow

Take a sample to your lfs and have them double check you water.

Oh, so your tank is still in cycle. Not to worry. This stuff should go away in time as your tank finishes its cycle. The diatoms will die out, and when you add your CUC, they will take care of the rest. You can run GFO in a canister filter to lower your phosphates in the tank.

Every tank is different, but not to worry, they will. Takes a few weeks.

GFO, Purigen, Chemipure Elite. Running one of these in a mechanical filter. Or setting up a sump/fuge using macro algae to eat it up for you.
