My 80g was running 7.6 to 7.7 pH, then I added a recirculating CO2 scrubber to my skimmer and now it's running 8.0 to 8.05 pH at night and drops as low as 7.87 during the day when everyone and the dogs are about the house . I only have fish in it right now and I'm not running my lights right now since I don't have any coral and the tank gets plenty of natural light already. I will be adding corals after I come back from Reefapolza in Orlando, FL this April.

I am not dosing anything either and all my parameters are in check and at normal levels, all but the pH. I wanted to get the pH ready for all the coral I plan to bring home from the show. I was hoping to get the pH between 8.1 - 8.3 but not sure the best way to go about this. I pretty sure that the 4 dogs and 5 people living in my big house is the cause of my troubles. I have my return flow turning over the surface a good amount already and a pair powerheads running. So are should be my next steps?

Run the skimmer air intake outside would be best.

Having said that, my pH drops to under 7.8 overnight and I have no problems with coral growth.

What CO2 scrubber are you using?

What's your alk level at?

I would just leave your pH where it is for now. Once you start adding corals it will increase from them and once you start having to supplement alkalinity it becomes even easier to raise pH.
If you are completely determined to raise it before adding corals then adding a refugium with chaeto can raise pH when the lights are on.

Ya id actually not even worry your level is in parameters

Thanks for the input so far.

-Running a ling outside is not a viable option for me.

-I plan on adding coral this April

-Had to have one made for my tunze 9410. Figuring out have to run the hosing gave me a headache at first, but I got it.

Thanks, you guys are great. I think I take your suggestion and wait until the coral I get settle in and go for there.

Remember it's near to impossible to keep levels exact. You want a good balance that doesn't swing to much. Trying to be perfect can cause even more freak out problems
