I keep my levels at 10-11dkh and prob 450-460 calcium mag is at 1350

i started doing the brightwells microbacter im in my 4th day.......

ive heard doing the probiotic method and carbon dosing can produce alk burns but i havent even started dosing the carbon source yet

i have several sps aquacultured and sometimes out of no reason i guess it looks like its either the tips on 1 or 2 of the acro or on the body it looks like it has an alk burn......then 2-3days later the tissue will recover and heal and grow over the part that looks like its burnt and everything is ok..........its happens in sporadic moments but i dont know if its because my alk is too high or what?? if i was gonna keep it at 9 should i just stop dosing for like 3-4 days for the alk to drop to 9? and go from there

my other acros and montis are perfectly find but it just seems its always 1 or 2 sps out of the blue sometimes and its not that big of a burn maybe less than 1/4" but i notice it.

Id try keeping it between 8-10. Just hold off a day or two and test it and see where your at and go from there.

I would lower the alk. Where are your phosphate levels? Why are you going to dose carbon. I dose vodka, MB7 and a few other things. I got burnt tips, but they were only on my montis and they quickly recovered in about a week. I am trying to keep my alk at 7-8 since I am dosing vodka. Decent results so far.

I'm having a tough time keeping my alk lower. now I've started dripping turbo calcium instead of Kalk so that should help.
Gphi.... would have a Ca reactor you not using would you? lol

I have been dosing vodka for a while. I have run my alk around 9 or 10 and have run it up around 11-12 and never experienced alk burn. The key is stability no matter which number you choose.

Also post some pics if you can to make sure it is "alk burn"
