Over the years I have been fasinated with a Zero Edge tank right inside the front door of one of our local fish stores here in Central New Jersey. I go there and stare at that tank in fasination, watching the water overflow the glass like I was a five year old in a candy shop, watching the candyman making a large swirl lollipop. As I'm mesmerized by this cascading water, I ponder about those that own these tanks. I imagine now having to clean both the inside and outside of the glass.....and how do you do that....a MAG Float won't work. In addition, you now have four sides to clean!!! And I also wonder what you do to minimize carpet surfing. It's not like you can put a screen top or canopy over the tank. Here's the double Zero Edge from, I believe, MACNA 2010:

I am fascinated by these tanks, but would like to hear from actual owns as to their experiences with owning a Zero Edge.

i have owned these, and built them as well. they look cool but can be a pain. i cleaned mine with acrylic-safe scrubbing pads, yes both sides! no way to put a lid on it and have it be functional. evaporation is through the roof. but...they look cool. lol.

Check out the Aquarium Table that we designed with Brett Perry for the Aquascape Booth at the Chicago flower and Garden show a few years back. Brett, of course, made his signature Zero Edge Aquarium insert and SR Aquaristik designed the fiberglass reinforced concrete table and place settings. We still have two or three in stock and ready for sale if anyone is interested. I loved doing this project!

Years back I helped set up one for a friend and it was def a very nice setup. He managed to keep it very clean by scrubbing both sides with acrylic pads. It is ideal for LPS and other lower flow pieces since the only flow you can get is from the return since there is no real way to get a power head mounted to anyside.

a mag float will work, just have to change the felt pad to glass/ acrylic cleaning pad.
Never had one but was told the evaporation is high and heaters are always on.

We make a product called Surface Shield, it makes a molecular coating on the acrylic or glass that makes it super easy to clean, basically, anything that would grow on the glass only grows on the coating. You can basically dust off the glass for lack of a better description. It definitely makes maintenance easier!

DO NOT BUY ZEROEDGE AQUARIUM PERIOD. THIS COMPANY IS ABOUT TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS AND HONESTLY BRETT THE OWNER ALONG WITH HIS MOTHER WHO USED TO KEEP IN CHECK, HAS LEFT TGE COMPANY. BRETT TO SAY THE LEAST IS A FLAKE, NEVER RETURNS YOYR EMAILS, MESSAGES, OR VOICE MAIL. I ORDERED TWO YEARS AGO A CUSTOM 8’x4’x1.5’ AQUARIUM. THESE PEOPLE NEVER TESTED THE TANK BEFORE DELIVERY, I HAD LEAKS FROM BOTH DRAINS, AND UP TO KNOW I STILL TWEAK THE DEAIN FLEX HOSES TO MINIMIZE THE AMOUNT OF SALTWATER ESCAPING. ON TOP THE WATER GUSHES OUT LIKE A WATERFALL AND MESSES US THE VISIBILITY ON THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE TANK. I AM INTO RARE FISH AND THEY ALWAYS END UP ON MY FLOOR, NOT TALKING ABOUT WRASSES, I HAD ANGELFISH, BUTTERFLIES, ANTHIAS, YOU NAME IT, IT JUMPED OUT. FINALLY I APPROACHED BRETT AND HIS MOTHER BY EMAIL TO CUSTOMIZE A RANK COVER WHICH COMPLETELY DEFEATS THE LOOK OF A ZEROEDGE TANK, AT FIRST HE WORKED WITH ME AND CAME UP WITH A DESIGN BUT THAT NEVER MATERIALIZED, THEY JUST GHOSTED ME DESPITE MY NUMEROUS EMAILS PHONE CALLS. I STILL HAVEN’T HEARD FROM THEM 7 MONTHS LATER. SI IF YOU’D LIKE TO KEEP SPS AND FISH YOU CARE ABOUT, DO NOT EVER BUY A ZEROEDGE TANK.

DO NOT BUY ANY ZEROEDGE PRODUCT. THEY GAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY’RE DOING.

I have a customer Zero Edge I bought used but in mint condition. I transferred my stock from another tank and it is doing great! Yes, heater is always on and evaporation is about 2.5 gallons a day. I did put a Vortech mp40wQD power head in it and ran the line down one of the sump lines. The Biggest problem is after cleaning the tank ( once a week ) I have to keep pushing the water over certain areas of the tank for 24 hours due to flow stops in those area. Over all, I love it and it is beautiful. I know this is an older post but it might help someone one day.
