A few weeks ago, I noticed my Naoko Fairy Wrasse was missing. I figured he jumped into my overflow area so I decided to check the sump. Turns out my Six line Wrasse was stuck in the filter sock. Naoko has never been found. He might still be in the overflow but I can’t get to him.

This morning I was looking at the tank and realized my purple Firefish was gone. I don’t remember the last time I saw him. I’ve had him for years. It’s weird.

I’ve considered that something beat him up at night, but I’m up forever after lights out and I’ve never observed any aggression at all. He was one of the first fish I ever got and, although he wasn’t aggressive, no one bothered him. My breeding pair of Clarkii clowns even let him hang out near their nest which was a privilege no other fish was granted. It’s weird.

Has anyone had this happen! I’ve had other fish just disappear over the years. Never figured out what happened to them. Conundrum for sure.

Good luck to you. Can’t say I’ve ever had this problem. Only time I’ve had fish “jump ship” was due to a gorilla crab. I’m sure that’s not your problem but I wish the best for you.

No gorilla crab, thank goodness. But now that I think about it, I had two green mithrax crabs that I haven’t seen for a long time. They could be in the depths of the rock work though. I’m not worried yet.
