Yes, but still the results with 1.028 are good as well so it's not only about that battle Probe vs Refractometer.
 
perhaps it "not about the battle", but through much of this thread you have been claiming and reiterating that refrac. are untrustworthy and unreliable, even suggesting that we run our systems at a low SG due to refractometers. My point is and has been, that they are quite the opposite and should be used to measure/check other devices ie:probes. now we know, and knowing is half the battle.

I was asking and questioning the process not claiming something and I've explained this several time and did a super-mega-special post especially for you before to explain this. :)

Do you accept everything in your live that is a "Standard", you never questioning something ... ? This is why our hobby is interesting.

My Apologies. I was under the impression that 1.029 was improving coral health and growth. The argument was that people didn't believe it. You proved that the Apex probe was incorrect. However, I feel like the original point is being ignored now. Knowing you were running your tank higher than 1.027, seemingly resulted in lowering your salinity back down to 1.026. Was there a reason why you wanted to lower the salinity?
 
Please help me read your results. Where does it indicate that your specific gravity is 1.028-1.029?
He used my spreadsheet to calculate salinity, and inferred a SG from that. The results he posted here show a salinity of 36.61, which translates into a SG of 1.0276 at 25C.

Again as I have said in other threads the Apex probe is the culprit and you should have trusted the refractometer (if it was properly zeroed). Said it too many times, here and elsewhere, and not going to say it all again but your probe is susceptible to micro bubbles which lowers the readings sometimes significantly. Fortunately I trusted the refractometer right from the start and then got to the bottom of the issue with the probe. Micro bubbles out of the way, for the most part, the probe has matched by refractometer close to last two years. I still on rare occasion need to swirl it around to remove any bubbles.

No. Seawater that has a salinity of S=35.00 according to the PSS-78 standard actually has about 35.165 g/kg of solutes in it. That conversion factor means that 36.784 / 35.165 * 35.00 = 36.61. The conversion of a salinity into specific gravity is done using the formulas found in The Equation of State of Seawater.
