Next time use less putty
The putty heats as it cures and killed/stressed it
All you need is a bit of putty the size of a pea and a dab of superglue
Should recover though as the rest looks fine

I have never been able to get the putty to hold on anything unless I use a bunch of it. I am picking up a different brand of it today and will see if I maybe just had a cheaper, poorer quality brand

I had never really planned on getting into SPS corals, but today while looking over some zoas and LPS frags I was given a nice frag of orange montipora digitata. A really nice 3 inch frag.
I placed it in a nice bright spot, and will watch it for signs of distress.

90 min of drip acclimation? Honestly I don't think you have to go that far, at least I never do and all my sps turn out fine.
I usually drip acclimate 15 -20 min when I get a shipment in. And actually if I move a frag from one tank to the other I barely acclimate it at all. Not that I would ever recommend that but I do think sps are a little more resilient and tough than we give them credit for

I figured I was being WAY over cautious with my acclimation...but since I knew nothing about it and very little about sps in general I wanted to be extra careful with it. I really hate killing things out of stupidity or carelessness.

So the digitata is still doing well. I made a water bottle feeding funnel and have been feeding light amounts of reef feast every 3rd day. Almost all of the white areas have come back to orange which tells me it is growing and happy.
I am encouraged for sure.

Thought I would update the growth of the digi. The pic clearly shows new growth...and this is the second time I've seen this. It also looks like the damaged area (epoxy damage) is even coming back
It is doing so well...I am very pleased :wink:
I just may have to try another something......maybe a blue or purple digi.....hmmm, pink bird's nest perhaps?

have it for 2 weeks now u probably seen this one since u got yours first it is more orange now and nicer since i got it...i have it high up the tank...havent mount it yet in my rockwork so its still in a frag rack

I can't be trusted in the LFS. I came home with a neon green hydnophora frag about 1/2". I have it mounted nice and high and a fair distance from other corals.
