I saw my first $500.00 coral!

I was at Just Pets today and Craig had a group of Australian corals for 2,3 and up to $500.00! The $500.00 one had about 10 heads on it. I am sure it is very rare. I have never seen these corals before. I assume they are from the Great Barrier Reef and collecting in this area must be very limited. They were beautiful!!

Side note, they have 200g mix IO for 32.99 and 200g mix RC 46.99. I thought the IO was a super deal!

dont come to florida. you can find ALOT of 500 even 1000 dollar corals. prices around here have been going insane. the good news is they seem to be leveling back out. thank god

don't assume it was rare. he has had plenty of junk in there that is way over priced. i've seen star polyp rocks priced at $80 in that place.

They have a decent selection there right now, but ya, I seen a $400 Star polyp rock there once.....

^^^^ I was just about to say that. A $500 coral there is completely different than a $500 coral from Diver's Den or a......different store.

yeah he has been getting a nice selection of coral lately, but his prices are so high that they sit there forever. for christ sake he sells purple live rock for $10 a pound. i wouldnt br suprised if that $500 coral sits there for a year or at least till he has his next 25% off sale.

Reefs in Green Bay has tons of Aussie stuff. Have for a long time. Worth the drive to at least check out the selection.

i agree! i have my eye on a few corals they had the last time i was there.

he had an acan that he said was a Lord wensis but I highly begged to differ, and because he thought it was a wensis he had a $899 price tag on it for like.......ever lol, finally ended up selling it (I think like 20 heads) for like $150 lol! I will agree on reefs up in GB to be a good store, lots of selection, quality is great, and the prices are fair IMO.

Odds are if it's in a store...it's overpriced. In some cases fairly (they have overhead, employees, etc.). In some other cases...well...I've never seen a $500 coral around here, though Reefs does have some nice pieces.
