I have a porcupine puffer, a picasso triggerfish, a beautiful wrasse, and 2 other mean fish. They are all aggressive but they get along. A Kessil light and a led strip. No live rock but lots of bio balls and a bio block in a 30 gallon sump, a bubble magus skimmer, a sock filter with a carbon bag and a phosphate bag. Got a vortech mp60 wave maker in a 110 gallon tall tank, it has 3 holes, one for the over flow and one for each water pump.

I noticed the leaking after I did a 25% water change. At first I thought it was leaking from where the plumbing is and there is drips coming from the over flow pipe but the water is streaming from under the tank stand and I’m scared the glass may be cracked. I got 2 big trash cans and filled them up with the water and put a pump in there to rotate water and my heater so it stays at 78 degrees and put all the fish in.

My question is.. will my fish be okay for a day or two until I figure this out? I tried taking out as much sand as a could but still can’t see a crack. I’m gonna have to move the tank from the stand and figure it out. If it’s just not sealed well and is leaking from where the plumbing is what’s a good aquarium safe silicone I can use to fix it? What’s the best way to check for leaks? Do I have to reseal the whole tank or just the bottom? Is it better for me to just buy a new tank? If so what’s a good place to buy it from?

Also if anyone has a 110 gallon tall tank for sale in Southern California or if shipping is reasonable, with over flow and two spots for pumps I’m interested.

Yes, as long as there is heat and water movement, your fish will be fine. Good luck finding youre leak. And welcome to reef2reef!

Please let us know where you determine the origin of the leak is. By the pics looking at the top portion, it appears to be in the area around the drilled hole area.

You may need to drain, wipe it out and then test just a portion of the DT and then just a bit in the OF portion to rule one or the other out.

Then we can go from there.

Are you sure it isnt the bulk heads? 99% of the time it is the bulkheads.

If the bottom pane of glass cracked, it wouldn't be a small leak.

+1 and Id like to ask OP if that is a plug of sorts near the left. Kind of hard for me to tell.

Thank you. Everyone survived the night in trash cans lol and they look fine not really bothered at all. I’m gonna find the leak today.

Yes there is a drilled hole that’s sealed there, but the water streaming out didn’t feel like that’s where it was coming from. I drained it, got all the sand out and today I’m determined to find the leak. So I can let you know soon hopefully.

I’m not even 50% sure but I’m gonna find out. I’m really hoping it’s just a easy fix because just moving the tank around is hard lol It wasn’t a small leak, it was a steady stream and that’s what’s making me so nervous.

I was so upset about my fish tank yesterday and today...I couldn’t figure out where the leak was coming from. After crying for two days my husband finally splurge and got me a Red Sea reefer 625 xxl
Can I marry him after you?

Hi .
Welcome to the forum ..

OMG 3 Weeks ago yesterday we were sitting on the Couch Drinking Coffee . My wife Bonnie said i hear something Dripping. We look around and Its under the Aquarium. Custom built 7 ft long 240 gallon tank, I start checking plumbing and Nothing. Turns it it was back bottom seam. We worked all day removing 400 lbs of live Rock Sand and fish into Emergency tank , Sump and Another 70 we had . Bought a new tank Monday. and Still working on getting it back up With some Sump and Tank surround upgrades.

I am glad you did what we done. Kept your Kewl and Solved the Problem instead of Screaming I am done with Reef tanks.
I always say its NOT IF YOUR GOING TO HAVE A LEAK., What makes you a reefer is HOW and how fast you deal with it AND Use the issue as a UPGRADE TIME.

Holy moly. Sound to me like you need a Build Thread!

My water in my new tank is finally safe to put fish in today and this morning my puffer passed away along with an angel fish in the trash can. I’m heartbroken. My picasso, wrasse and my mean, **** head fish are fine and doing well and so is my crab but I’d honestly trade them all just to have puffer back[emoji24][emoji97][emoji97][emoji97][emoji97][emoji97][emoji97][emoji97][emoji97][emoji97][emoji97][emoji97][emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji174]
