See pics attached. I have been dosing twice a week with Vibrant, only have the lights on for 3-4 hours a day. I have blacked out for 3 days twice but it keeps coming back. Nitrates are below 5 and phosphate is almost nonexistent (low PO4 could be because of the algae). Ammonia and nitrite 0. C

oming up on almost 4 weeks now. Changing GFO and carbon more frequently, cleaning glass almost every day. Any help of suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

Can you get a close pic to see details.

Is it wiry? Looks like a turf alge.

tons of bubbles.. my initial though was bryopsis .. not so sure now
The bubbles aren't uncommon with vibrant. Likely some cyano of gassing o2.
Def not bryo.

You did the full dose and followed it ?

+1 Turf algae...was in my system for the first 4 months....cuc took care of it immediately once I added an ATS. Crazy bubbles and everything

Trip. And it is the green mat Alge in the first pic yea?
(Second didn't work out so goo)

Clean Up Crew...mostly hermits and tronchus snails.....Algae Turf Scrubber....if you make one don't overthink it.
Yup. Cuc cuc cuc.

Let me phone a friend too.

@Brew12 hey buddy. Have you seen read of green algaes bing vibrant resistant?

I forgot to mention it also grows on the sand bed!?
Lol. That's a ?!?!? For sure.

I do def in general reccomend snails. But sometimes when it gets out of hand.....

I should also mention I had considerable damage to that algae once I added a lawnmower blenny. He wasn't able to keep up with the growth but there were large patches of bare rock when he was in there. Once the algae was gone he lasted a month and then made a 5in leap out of the tank one night and haven't replaced him yet. Miss him he was fun to watch will be replacing him once I make a screen.

I may stop dosing with Vibrant for a while .. let the CUC do their jobs and get a few snails (gives me another excuse to got the LFS!! :)

thanks to all for the amazing help and fast responses!!!! I absolutely love this community!!

I'm not sure any are "resistant" but some are much tougher than others. Bryopsis can literally take months to clear.

Vibrant is a tool, not a miracle cure. If you are using Vibrant 2x a week and still have NO3 in your system after a few weeks it will take more than just Vibrant to get things fixed.

At its heart, Vibrant is just carbon dosing with a little kick of algaecide. If you can do that much carbon dosing and still have any detectible nutrients at all there is a shortage of nutrient export in the system imo. As an example, after 3 weeks of Vibrant I had to dose NO3 to keep from starving my coral.
