nobody can answer that, we have tanks that run both good and bad in that condition

what is a fact is that if you want it clean, we can do that with our eyes closed pretty much, see this cool 2x set of sand cleans and after results:



it means you are able to clean it in a reliable, safe way If you like. we no longer have to keep waste in order to be stable, that's the old way.

Thanks I’ll take a look at that. I just want to make sure that my fish don’t get harmed when I do it. Honestly, I’ve stirred up the top of the sand bed persistently in my weekly water changes and yes, it looks horrible for that 10min stretch but the fish never seem insanely stressed and that filter does clean it up quickly. Going to continue what I’ve been doing as I’ve been blessed with a solid looking tank for someone brand new to the hobby.
