Yep I agree. Those things are evil. They'll be great inhabitants for years and then one day break your heart by eating your favorite zoas

I'm currently experiencing this actually. I've had asterinas in my tank for years now. Couple weeks ago I saw a huge one munching on my utter chaos. Today I just found another munching the pink diamonds. :mad: :mad:

So now it's war.

I def took out the asterina after seeing all this lol, diatoms seem to be going away since I’ve started turning my lights of a lil earlier.

Your also right, I skipped the cycle by using nitrifying bacteria cultures (I think that’s what they were called lol), everything is real new I’m like just getting past the first month and half or so.

Actually it's an Aquilonastra sp. starfish not Asterina. Here's a link if you want to read more: Aquilonastra I have at least several species in my systems and they are great scavengers feeding on biofilms and algae. I've never known them to cause problems with anything and are excellent at helping clean up when corals/polyps have died from other causes.
