I think I just set a record

First time reefer. Brand new tank, and first time I began to fill it managed to Christen the floor. And not by just a little either. Wife isn't home yet, so here is hoping things dry out a bit first.
What happened??

That’s always a pita. I keep a shop vac just for such whoopses.
Unfortunately while the tank sits on tile the hose flipped out and landed on carpet. I need to write myself a note "water goes inside the tank.

Well I put a submersible pump in the trash can and ran a hose to the tank. Then without testing I went and plugged it in. The force blew the hose out of the tank. Fortunately the tank didnt get chipped or scratched.

Hahahaha. Welcome to the "club" I used to full brute cans with ro/di water and mix the salt for my tanks. Years ago I lived on a condo, second floor with a loft. My tank was in the loft. I started filling the can, forgot about it left for a few hours, came home and my kitchen was flooded, water dripping through the light fixture, the loft was flooded carpet soaked and my downstairs neighbors ceiling was totally discolored and wet. I had to quickly blame the dishwasher drain hose, oh it wa fun, ....youd think I'd learn after that Haha. Nope did it atleast 2 more times over the years... not nearly to that extent but overflowed water for sure.

im def. adding that note for myself as well..... I was doing a WC and well... Lets say the hose mightve fell from the tank because i got lazy and i may have maybe lost the 10ish gallons i was going to put into the tank...

Had my 20g's filter bust 2 days ago and it drained all its contents onto my living room floor! Woke to the sound of protein skimmer and powerhead running dry

Okay so she comes home. Eyes get big, and the first thing she says is "It didn't leak did it". I tried the dog story. She didnt buy it, and threatened to bop me in the nose with a newspaper.

Hard flooring? Grab a mop and get to it. Tell the truth. You spilled a bit and were cleaning it up.

Consider buying this in the future:
