I have a 50 gallon tank that has been set up since October . I have 2 clown fish, one coral beauty, one yellow tang, one long spined urchin, and a condy anemone. I have always used my regular tap water (well water) for my water changes, but about 5 days ago I bought some reverse osmosis water from a local grocery store and did my water change with that. I decided to change because I have a nasty algae problem that I am trying to get rid of, thought it might be my tap water. Anyways, so 2 days ago, I noticed my clowns acting a little funny. Yesterday, it looked as though they had a full blown case of ick. This morning, one of the clowns is dead and all the other fish aren't far from it.... all the water parameters are same as they have always been. Had to be something in that water???? I'm a total noob but the tanks been going great for 6+ months, now I'm a little set back. Anything I can do to save the rest of my fish??

Water parameters

Tell us more about you water parameters. Using tap water or well water is very bad for a tank ,try doing your water changes with ro/di water from your local lfs.they charge about 50 cents a gallon. Also let us know what equipment you are using

PH is 8.0. Ammonia is almost nothing. Nitrites are 0. Nitrates are barely registering. I have a fluval pump system. Not sure exactly the model at the moment (I'm not at home) but it has bio balls, carbon bag, and sponges. Also have fluval LED full spectrum lighting. No protein skimmer. One small powerhead.

Ich can be brought on or triggered by cooler temps. How big was you "grocery store" RO/di water change? And at what temp is your tank normally, and what was the temp of your water you used for your water change? Iv'e dealt with ich multiple times as a result of adding too cool of water and dropping the overall tank temps to lower than satisfactory.

It was a 10% water change. I put the heater in the new water before adding it to warm it up a bit. I usually keep the tank around 76 degrees. Now that I have ich, what can I do to save the rest of the fish??

There are hundreds of products to treat ich. I try to avoid copper unless you have a QT tank to put the fish in and treat. If treating in your DT, I really like the kick ich product from rubby reef. It is reef safe (with the exception of a few types of green colored coral tissue algae, usually found in star polyps) and pretty mild as far as a fish's reaction. I have brought 300+ gallon tanks back from the brink with this stuff. It is on the expensive side, but it's cheaper than new fish.

Are you sure it is ich. Maybe take you water and have it double checked by the LFS? My tap water has great reading. I have used it for 1.5 yrs. than I tried the water from LFS. I had all sorts of problems, because they let the new guy make it. I am back to using my own water again. My tank is great
