I decided to sell my MSX200 and SRO XP-2000 after running two skimmers for a month or so. The MSX200 was doing a fine job but I just had to try one of the new cones... I could have sold the MSX and the SRO would have done a great job, but nooooo. I needed another new toy. Holy crap it's big!

You just don't realize how big it is until you actually see it... :D And yes, it is bigger than a bucket of salt. It's kicking some butt so far and I'm really happy with the purchase, can't wait til it's fully broken in...

hmmm....

this might just be me.....but
isn't that a little too "large" for a nano tank?????.....
:hammer:

Wow, it's gigantic!

Awesome! What size tank(s) will that bad boy be on?

About 260 gal total depending on sump depth. 156 display, 45 anemone tank, and 30 breeeded frag tank with 100 gal. stock tank sump. This skimmer is overkill for sure, but if I upgrade down the road I didn't want to buy a new skimmer.

That thing is INSANE!!!! That is so sweet looking. Will you be doing some pics of it up and running? I HOPE SO!

are you worried about over skimming or do you have it on a timer?

Not worried about it, if I notice any issues it's nothing feeding more won't take care of.

This is a little under 48 hours since the last cleaning, very impressed so far. I replaced me GAC the night before and it took seconds for the skimmer to start spewing black dust even thought I had rinsed the carbon very well. It has also raised my PH a smidge and it's falling less at night. Was going from from 7.95 to 8.12 night and day with the MSX, with the MSX and SRO it was 8.02-8.14, with the 300A I'm getting 8.08-8.18.

very nice addition. It's raising the pH by oxygenating the water better, correct?
I noticed mine jump to when I switch from Aqua-C to my ATB

The PH is rising because it's removing CO2, O2 doesn't really impact PH.

Looking good Ike! Whats funny about the white color is the skimmate doesn't look as dark.

So, still loving the skimmer... Just thought I'd report that the skimmer upgrade has accomplished what I had hoped it would.

Ever since making my tank upgrade in summer I've had nitrate problems for the first time in many many years. Nothing major, just 10-15ppm... Well, 2 weeks after the skimmer was added, while still feeding very heavily, my nitrates are now undetectable and have stayed that vway for well over a week.
