I think my acantho is moving?... actually, it has to because I moved an adjacent coral away from it by 2-3 inches and the acantho is almost touching again... could this be possible?

Also, can a cynarina and acantho touch and be ok?

Cynarinas and Acanthophyllia can touch w/o issue.

It is quite likely the acantho moved through 'inflating' and 'deflating'.

Acans can not really "move" on their own, more than likely a crab or snail is moving it around.

I can see how over time a smaller frag of Acans could move a short distance via inflation and deflation. Look at Fungia, they can walk all over the tank inflating and deflating.

I once had a plate coral and it wasn't happy at where I had it, so it moved by the same inflate/deflate mechanism.

Show a picture of your tank so it's easier to make recommendation.

My cynaria moves when it wants to. Meat coral is same family. Over inflated bodies. Not all in the scoly family get that ballon like as a cynaria and meat coral.

Yes, I am talking about an Acanthophyllia... On Tues. of this week an Indophyllia in my tank moved as well... it moved over 2" overnight... I know because I moved it the night before to a more open spot... next morn, it was back where it came from crammed in a corner... smh... :-) I did not think those corals moved. Lots to learn in this hobby.
