To say Hello, Aloha, bonjour, Halló, Hallå, Salve, Kon'nichiwa, Ni hao, 'ahlan, halo, ciao, and good day :)

My name is Chris and I reside in the Northeast of the US. When I was trying to come up with a pen name, I decided on MECOMI well before I started the blog on R2R. For a little fun I will leave it up to the community to interpret this. What I briefly forgot about is I already have a handle from my DJ/Producer days, B-Kind, which my wife gave to me. I sign off each post with this.

Long before I even thought of this hobby I fell in love with the reef. I was lucky that my stepdad was a regular diver, so my brother and I got the opportunity early to become certified. I have been on just over 30 dives in my life and none as an adult, yet. I went to Little Cayman first which was known for its wall dives, this experience blew my mind :face-with-spiral-eyes:. The weightlessness once you found equilibrium was freeing, the open ocean was humbling, and the coral reef was unbelievably stunning. Going over the first wall into the abyss was more than intimidating but never scary. Respect the reef. I recall a time being 120’ down and seeing a large Moray Eel on one side and the blue abyss to the other. I was in heaven but had no idea it was so far under the sea.

When I began the hobby back in 2019 I started lurking on R2R early to start building my knowledge base. I always appreciated the formatting and rules to keep out some of the trolling that comes up often on other sites. It will always come up a little but overall, it is much more tame. I never really thought of myself as a writer, but I felt the pull of the keyboard to start. After a few months discussing it with my therapist I finally dove into my build, Two Tanked too Enjoy It. I wanted to keep things simple and go with one continuous timeline for my Biocube 32 and Red Sea Max S-500. I have thousands of photos to go through so to avoid confusion on the build I have stuck to building my blog in order. I have written a few teasers or shared some pictures here and there on other threads, but I have stayed true to the timeline. Even though I was intimidated to share everything, I want to reassure you fine folks that I provide the good, bad, and downright ugly of my experiences, being a beginner, growing pains, and growth into the reefer I am today.

I have taken the time to bulk up my build thread before saying hello. I felt it might be nice to have some content to share with the community and say hello once I moved into the second tank. Please enjoy if you have the time :thinking-face:!

I hope everyone has an awesome day out there and I thank the community for the knowledge it has shared, for giving me a space to share my saltwater journey and giving my family/friends a break from the overwhelming amount I enjoy talking about my reef.

Later days and remember,

See Kind, B-Kind

Thank you for sharing! We’re glad you’re here!
