I thought this was Cyano, but maybe not?

So, I originally thought this was cyano on my sand bed but there is a big color difference between that and what’s under my sand bed. Is it obvious that what is on my sand bed is actually not cyano?

Appears to be a cyanobacteria mat

I was also noting the velvety mat structure in the first picture. Color for cyanobacteria can be green as well. Sometimes it appears purple-red. Color and mat appearance alone are not a sure fire identification method.

And for the fix:
If this is under fifty gallons, take apart the tank, isolate the fish and sensitive organisms somewhere, and rinse out or replace the sandbed altogether using the steps from the sand rinse thread / collection of pages of this work. Make your rocks cloudless as well, right now if you picked up any rock in the tank and swished it around, a huge feed cloud for cyano would result. In our thread we de cloud rocks and sand, and simply beat cyano with after pics.

If this isn’t a smaller tank, or if the work sounds too much, then you have weeks or mos coming... putting corals and animals through drastic changes intended to starve an invader, not boost corals. We could also simply remove your aiptaisa if any during the takedown cleaning as well, the way you remove aiptasia is with a flathead screwdriver outside the tank, don’t kill them internally they’ll half die and fragment around. Your sandbed pic shows the cross sectioning indicating a need for export of feed and cloud.

It's a larger tank so I don't really want to tear anything down. I'm not too worried about the aiptasia. Berghia Nudibranchs usually take care of it for me for a long time.
