Is this correct what i doing?

I dont like vinegar, after 1 week there are flocking in the bottle, and i not drinking from the bottle.
Wodka is not a option, i do not drinking alcohol.

Thats why i using Calcium acetate C4H6O4Ca with white sugar.
+ the extra little calcium bonus!

1 liter RO water with 50gr Calcium acetate en 2 spoons white sugar.

I dosing 24/7 fosfates to keep the fosfate on 0.02 - 0.04

My tank + sump are 360 liter.

In the beginnening i must dosing nitrates, it's was to low 0, the Lps dont like it.
After the nitrate are on 1 i stopped the nitrate dosing.
After a month the nitrate begin to rising.
A month ago my nitrates are rising up to +10
I have to give the first week 3.2ml/day from the Calcium acetate / sugar mix.
Second week 6.4ml/day
Third week 10.4ml/day

Then the nitrate was lower 5
I lowered to 6.4ml/day and now the nitrate are 2.5
2.5 are fine for me.

I must clean every 2 days the windows.
And i do every week a 15% WW with natural Nort Sea Water.

Gr, Borsalino,

It is fine to dose calcium acetate as a mostly balanced calcium, alkalinity and organic dosing compound. I’m concerned that in your diluted dosing mix, bacteria may grow. That’s also likely what happened to the vinegar. It should not be diluted for dosing for that reason.

From begin this week, a make every week fresh mix, just eneough for max 8 days.

I do not know what concentration is needed to prevent bacteria. Vinegar at the concentration prevents bacteria due to the low pH. Calcium acetate will not have a low pH, so if you see bacteria growing, try making it much more concentrated

I made a similar supplement by adding calcium hydroxide into vinegar until it was saturated with solids. That makes the oH too high for bacteria to grow.

Thanks Randy,

The first mix i make was after three weeks still crystal clear.

Today was my calcium acetate mix empty and what struck me was the gel on the bottom pot.
Mix was made for 50 days.

Last month we had a heat wave and is the mix become warmer, the reason of the bacterial growth?

Now have first the RO water boiled and half the sugar taken than last time.
Or is it better Randy as you said before more grams of calcium acetate to use?
But how much more?

Might be bacteria (my first guess), or it might be magnesium hydroxide that precipitated from impurities in the calcium.

I am not sure how much is needed to prevent bacteria. Can you double the concentration of calcium acetate?
