I want a sump but...

I wanna do a sump but I’m afraid I’m afraid it’s gonna overflow. I can’t afford to come home from work and manage a flood

Other forms of filtration are about the same risk. I've had 2 canister seams split & a sponge get clogged in a hang on.

If you drains are big enough & your sump has room for the extra water from shutoff then you'll be fine. Unless your wanting an hang on overflow box. Now those scare me.
