I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THESE FISH PLEASE!!!!!!

I am sorry but I'm still just learning and see all these fish on Live Aquaria Divers Den and have questions. I have bought many fish without much research and had to take them back just because they didn't work.

So I would like to list a couple fish and want to know if anyone has any experience with them and can please share. I am looking for things like.... do they actively swim or hide, are they aggressive or peaceful, easy to feed and anything else you may know. Thank you very much!

1. Curacao Swissguard Basslet (Liopropoma rubre)

2. Yellow Candy Hogfish(Bodianus bimaculatus)

3. Red Serosa Dottyback (Pseudoplesiops typus) - is this aggressive?

4. Swales Swissguard Basslet(Liopropoma swalesi)

Fish 1 & 4 behave similarly. They are hardy and peaceful to most fish, though will fight with small fish that want to hide in the rockwork. They will hide the first couple of weeks, once they get used to things will be seen more frequently, but will never be an outgoing fish.

Fish 2 is best kept with semi aggressive and aggressive fish and will eat your cuc.

Fish 3 is super shy. I have seen one that was in a tank for over a year and believed dead and when the tank was taken down he was tucked away in a piece of live rock.

If that's what they said then they are wrong. Bimaculatus hogfish are pretty feisty. Pseudoplesiops typus is very peaceful unless kept with another Pseudoplesiops.

Swissguard basslets are easy to keep, hogfish are a bit harder, and the dotty back is easy to keep but is very aggressive

Paraplesiops typus, although called a dottyback, is not aggressive at all, unlike most dottybacks in the genera Pseudochromis and Pictichromis.

I trust the crew and their advice on here before I do LA when it comes to how something acts and other aspects. Also you have to take into account what else you have, tank size, etc.

Paraplesiops will not be seen in your tank it is so inactive.

This is a shy fish too, but behaves a lot like a marine betta, enjoying hiding spots but will recognize you and come out for food.

My buddy called from my LFS and said that they had just gotten in a 1" Gold Assessor Basslett. He is a beautiful little fish and is doing great in my QT.

I still really want a Arrowhead Soapfish but really can't find much about them.

They are capable of eating smaller fish.

If you want an Arrowhead Soapfish make sure you have a cover on your tank bc they are excellent jumpers, also provide many large overhangs or caves bc they prefer subdued lighting. They will try to eat just about anything they can fit in their mouth. They are peaceful towards fish they can't eat. Be aware that when they are stressed they can release a toxin from their slime. If you do decide to get one stock up on ghost shrimp bc they can be difficult to get to eat frozen food. They do have a great personality and will greet you when you're close to the tank, but expect it to be quite shy and secretive for the first couple months.
