This show I watch today on how the reefs are dissapearing got me thinking and I know clownfish are tank bred but to you think like a carpentars flasher wrasse or a yellow watchman goby are tank bred or do you think they come from the ocean are shipped to a retailer then to a fish store?

I think there is some tank raise ORA YWG but the flasher i think not. I'm sure some people are on it already.

I am not sure I was thinking the wrasse might be wild caught but idk

What do you think about the yellow watchman are most tank bred?

Most are wild caught. Generally tank bred fish are more expensive, so they are usually advertised as such to justify to the end consumer the added expense. ORA is breeding ywg.

It's highly unlikely that the wrasse is captive bred. If you're interested in what work is being done to breed marine fish, visit the Marine Breeders Initiative site. You'll learn a lot about this aspect of the hobby from some very knowledgeable and dedicated hobbyists: MBI - Marine Breeding Initiative
