I went with a Nero pump. For 2 reasons- 1. The low profile and 2. I like their controller app. I’m not thrilled about this purchase, as I really had to concede some options to stay at a decent price.

I really wanted the Red Sea gyre, but that is an impulse. It’s also a toy. That seems like something g I try after my tank is established and I actually have a benchmark to go against.

When I decided on a wavemaker style I needed an external controller just invade wifi ever goes down. I really wanted the Sicce XStream SDC. But two things. It sticks out almost 4” into the tank (I think it’s 3.8”) and it’s wifi. Wifi is not my favourite, blue tooth is. After researching and watching videos I saw the AI and actually decided to give it a chance. It’s got a great app, it’s blue tooth and it’s got a real compact foot print. However it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the Sicce.

At the end of the day the Nero fit what i needed. It wasn’t my number choice emotionally, but it’s the one that fits what I need.

Hopefully I won’t need a second one. I want to get my tank going.

All that’s left are plumbing and rocks. For Christmas I will replace my current lights with Kessil.

I have two and I love them. Below is a thread I started over a year ago, might make you feel better about your purchase. At the very least, the included table is a good reference as you begin to dial in flow:

I am thus far pleased with nero unit

I almost went with a Nero but ended up going with an Aqamai KPs, and I’m really very seriously considering upgrading to a Nero soon. The Aqamai is good but too small for my tank I think.

Well, I was going to recommend buying two Tunze 6025's they are cheap and but run the same speed since it will be a FO, it should work fine, you can aim them and they and they last forever.
