Ian's New Deep Dish Custom build (70x40x24)

So my old 220 gallon tank blew its upper supports and I had to decide to either repair it or go with the eventual custom tank I had wanted.
I decided to just bite the bullet and get the custom build done.

The tank dimensions are 70x40x24. I really wanted a deep tank the offered more flexibility for aquascaping.

I ordered the tank from Exotic Aquariums in Miami and Karen was really helpful in getting all my requests handled.

First things first... let's get the old tank out!

Found this guy in the sand. Might explain some disappearances.

Sand gone, lights out, critters in storage. Time to get it gone!

My stand and new skin are built by Jonny Ugalde. The man does some really nice work.

Tank delivery day!

Of course, being Florida it had to rain.

A LOT!

Last doors are in and the lights are mounted.
I am using a Hamilton combo (Metal Halide and T5) fixture. I am also mounting an additional T5 unit as well as some actinic LED strips.

The fixtures are mounted to a frame that are on tracks so changing bulbs is easier. Just slide it out.

I spent a couple of weeks getting my dead rock sculpted with a dremel and rock hammer.

This is all but two pieces in place.

The tank sounds a LOT louder in the video than it really is. It's mostly silent except for the fan from the lights. The phone just picked up the sound of the water.

I used to have a 65 gallon that I ran as Prodibio tank. It was successful, just too small.
I had switched to Zeovit on my 220 but it was just too much to deal with on a daily basis and on one vacation the laps in proper dosing more or less wiped out the corals.
I will be running this system with Prodibio and I am now at he end of the cycle. Here are the vials I used for starting the bacterial phase.... I couldn't find the pro size.

I don't know enough yet to fully appreciate your fishroom, but I do know that I could spend a very long time gazing into that deep-dish!

My daughter will be going out of state for college so I am breaking down her tank and transferring the livestock over to my new tank. Here are a few shots along with my 9 new Bangaii Cardinals (I am calling them "The Fellowship of The Ring").
