Hey guys I’ve made my way back into the hobby recently. One of my issues on my last set up was low ph and wanted to fix that with this aquarium. I am currently running a Red Sea reefer 300 and purchased an ice cap co2 scrubber (md). I watched as many videos as I could on YT and tried to follow along with the main post but still a little confused. I’ve attached some photos to see if maybe someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. For the first day I set it up my ph climbed up to 8.22 but since then it’s as if I never even installed the scrubber. Any help would be appreciated.

The only thing I noticed is that the reactor is hooked up backwards. The center is the outflow of the reactor and the one you are hooked into is the inflow. Shouldn't make too big an impact unless you are getting too much moisture which will while out the media very quickly. For me this has been a bigger issue when recirculating through the skimmer.

I see your pulling air from the room. The media won't last long. I have my co2 scrubber pulling air from the cup and back into the air intake if the skimmer. Lasts a 1.5 months.

So here’s the thing, I’m not sure I’m set on this skimmer, I might upgrade at a later time and if I drill into the lid I might have issues reselling later.

I have a rsk300 and it’s awesome! I tried a scrubber indoors and media didn’t last long but the biggest problem was air supply. You are running 2into 1 from silencer making all air going into skimmer go through a tiny hose, I tried this and my skimmer really struggled for air. I then ran a hose directly to the Venturi output on the pump and that made a massive difference!

You can burn through the media really quickly and the media costs over that time may far outweigh the impact on the resale value of the skimmer. If you decide to go the recirculation route there is a chance you can get a lot of liquid from the skimmer (not from overflowing skimmer, just from wetness in the skimmer air). I have recirculating on two of my tanks, one it is an issue and the other it isn't. On the one that is the issue I run from the skimmer lid to a BRS dual reactor (empty except for sponges and a single should work fine) to the CO2 reactor to the skimmer. The BRS reactor collects most of the excess water an keeps my CO2 media from getting wet which ruins the media. I went from getting less than a week out of the media to getting 1.5-2 months out of the media.
