I just wanna make sure the Gyre pump is plug and play, and I wouldn’t need any other controller, like an Apex system etc.

Oh gotcha. No it works with the included controller. Like I mentioned in the ad, the controller is from a 1K, so it's not exactly the right one, but seems to work fine.

Does the controller have a wave/pulse function?

It has various "modes", which is what I think you're referring to. You can look up the 1k controller and see all the different ones.
