im Thinking about getting this. Anybody got one and what’s your experience with it??

I just got the 2k up and running about a week ago and so far I like it. It took a bit of trial and error getting it connected to the wifi and understanding the triggers but my corals are liking the random flow. There is deff more noise when the pump runs in reverse but that’s understandable. Works very well if you choose to not use the reverse option.

What is the reverse option and why is that even an option?

The impellers run in the opposite direct so instead of blowing out the top side it blows down the bottom side. It is nice to have every once in awhile because it allows my vortech to blow past what it normally can’t.

A downside to these is that once the unit gets dirty it seems the flow drops a lot. Taking it apart and putting it back together may not be as clean cut as a mp10. I have 1 mp10 on my biocube and wanted something to do a soft wide flow so this works great. It may not last as long as a vortech because it’s a few more moving parts and they are made to be replaced. I have had my mp10 for over 7 years and would be lucky to have this gyre last long like that.

I have been running a 3K for 6 months or so. I really like it. Powerful. It pushes a wall of water 6 feet across the top of my 125 at a low setting.

Really pushes water and you can alter direction of flow

Any tips on flow patterns??

I generally run pulse mode with one half across the tank and other downwards to create a wave pattern

Ok let me put it like this. I’m trying to eradicate cyano lol

Are you able to put up a fts that isn’t overly blue so I can see where your corals are?
