Ice Cap Gyre OR Ecotech MP40 Powerhead or Combo

I own the EL, for me there’s no module to connect the Maxspect Gyres or AI Nero because they don’t work with the Apex. I just have them plugged into controllable outlets on the eb832

But if you’re looking to control the Icecap gyres you’d need either the full Apex or an EL with the VDM module. For the Vortech you’d need to find WXM module which is no longer made and then either get an older pre-Mobius Mp40 or downgrade the firmware on a new one.
Perfect response is what I was looking for. I too have the eL. I have the WXM; but it looks like I need to buy the VDM from some where locally.

I'm using two MP40's and two gyre 330's on my 90g sps tank. They are controlled with the Hydros wave engine and it's awesome to have all of them under one controller, which can be controlled by my apex for feed mode and also other flow programs. I have the MP40's on the back wall and the gyres on the sides, up high, so there's all kinds of crazy flow going on and I love it.
We need pics of the setup! Sounds great.

I'm running with four MP40s on reefcrest anti-sync and it doing great on alternate flow patern.

Are you running it via Apex or another aquarium controller?
No. I use my phone to Interface with the pump and see no way to turn on/off manually outside thier app. So if wifi connectivity is poor then no way to adjust turn on/off for feedings.

Oh my. That is sweet!

Does the hydros give you independent control over each pumps native features or does it give you a new flow control for all of them as part of the hydros itself?
Yeah, kinda. You create groups and then you can program reach group to your liking. They have several modes to choose from and plenty of options for programming.

Now that is a SWEET SWEET set-up....love it

Does your cabinet stay open or closed (doors or no doors)?
Right now it's open, but I'm planning on wrapping it with walnut panels. I designed the stand with tabs in the upper corners and the bottom supports recessed so I can use magnets and have the panels recessed a bit when attached. But this pandemic has put a lot of plans on the back burner.

I actually use the time to upgrade my aquarium... See Pics...still in the final stages of upgrading... (120 Mixed Reef)

I have a 4k ice cap and love it . I would note that it requires a soild internet connection to Interface with the pump and control the settings.
Have found that even with great internet I sometimes have to sign out and sign back in again to make flow changes on my 4k Icecaps. Am already tired of the “upload failed” message and it’s only been 2 months - but at least it always works eventually!

Hey @minus9 what is your program set-up for the 4K, triggers, everything if you dont mind...I am still confused on how to operate this. I also have the eL and the VDM module for the Neptune Apex.
My gyre 330's are set to group 1 and my mp40's are on group 2 (but mostly follow the same programming).
I use sps reef during the day and lps reef during the night.
You'll need the apex link cable to connect the wave engine to your apex, then you'll program via the modes for feeding, water change, etc.... Then you'll have to create some virtual outlets in fusion. I just followed the instructions that Carlos gave on the video for programming feed mode via apex. The key to triggering something in the wave engine via apex is setting the right voltage in the virtual outlet and matching it in the Hydros app.
For example, when I program "storms" which is a repeating trigger, I also have it programmed through the 0-10v, so I can push a button and run the "storms" mode at will.
I'll add a few screenshots.

This is the virtual outlet for triggering "storms". In the Hydros app, I have the trigger voltage set to 4.

The last two are my schedule with repeating triggers. I have to double/mirror the programming for my mp40's, which gives me independent control.
I know there's a lot of info here, but I can help with one thing at a time, which will make it easier for both. So let me know specifically what you want to do and I'll help. - John

Yea, I run 2 Ice Cap controllers, 2x2k and 2x4k gyres and they have been a major headache. After the updated platform they dont even stay on wifi. I have to run Bluetooth

This is through the Hydros app, right? My guess would be that the ice cap controllers need a firmware update or something? Having the wave engine removes that headache and the power bricks. It's just a matter of expense vs convenience.

First of all...thank you very much for the detail information...this is alot of information and I will try and figure it out in the next few days...for some odd reason...this is the ONE area (coralvue) I am just not understanding how to work this out...

Does CoralVue/Hydos offer the enduser the ability to copy and paste other user codes/triggers etc.?

I'm not sure, but if you go to their page/thread here on R2R in the sponsor section, suggest it. They are really open to things like this and they're pretty receptive to new ideas and making things better.
Also, let me know what you want to do (programming wise) and I'll help. I'm not sure how the app works with the ice cap controllers, so there may be some difference between the app w/ice cap and the wave engine?
