I have the gyre 1k. I really want to run the reverse gyre mode but am wondering if it's really worth the extra money it will cost to purchase the extra parts. Anyone run the 1k or 3k on reverse gyre or what's everyone's favorite setting?

It runs in forward and reverse right out of the box

It runs forward and reverse but the coralvue video says you have to have either 2A propellers or 2B propellers so the propellers are opposite directions. This causes the forward motion to push water and the reverse motion to catch water as well. Other wise forward will catch the water and reverse just causes turbulence, propeller is forward so it doesn't pull water back. Or has things changed since the video?

Seen the video some time ago. I didn't change mine out and it works fine. The video was brought up sometime ago in this thread if you want to read up on it.

I think I know which video you're speaking. What the video is showing is, have either both A or B impellers in order to have one side run one way and the other the opposite. If thats the one then, yeah you'll need an extra impeller A or B. IME reverse for the ice cap is not as efficent compared with other wave makers due to its design. I only use reverse as a cleaning cycle.

My set is on my nuvo 20 soon to be 40. My current setup right now is 40% on pulse for 8 hrs, 50% gradual for 10 hrs and 40%/-30% reverse for 6 hrs. It use to be no more than 30% since it will blow the sand, but did some rock work to dissipate the flow to the bottom of the tank.
