ice cap k1 nano skimmer

good afternoon. im about to start my sps nano tank i have a waterbox cube 20 and im having a hard time placing the skimmer behind the chamber. should i use the magnet inside of the water or make a custom stand for the skimmer to place in the back?

The magnet may not be waterproof, just FYI. Can you post an image or two so we can see where the issue is?
