I have been eye balling these skimmers since they came out and finally pulled the trigger one the k2-120 model last week and couldn't be happier. It is built rock solid, has a lot of nice features, is near silent, and started producing skim in less then 12 hours.

A little tank info
Red Sea max E 170 w/ sump (started as an all in one tank)
Approximately 40-45 gallons of water volume.
I would consider the tank to be on the heavier side bioload wise.
I don't dose anything
Fish are fed once a day and corals are fed 1-2 times per week.

On to the pics

This is 8 days worth of skim

All cleaned up and back in action

And here is a full tank shot.

I've been looking at these as well. How is your continued usage of it now that you've had it for a bit longer now?

My experience is just as good as day 1. It's starting to produce a little darker skim and is still as silent as day 1 so I would highly recommend this skimmer

Looking at one of these for the reefer 250, may have to look at the 160 now!

I think a 120 for be fine for a Red Sea 250.

I have had the 160 on my tank for a years now. I have not had any problems with it. It skims great, it's also a very quiet skimmer.

I've had the 120 on my system for 6ish months and find it very easy to tune, clean, and service. If I need a bigger skimmer in the future its larger versions will be top of the list.

I have the K2-120 in a 65 gallon + 20 sump, and it's silent, has a compact footprint and pulls nice, dark skim. Would most definitely buy again, and after a complete cleaning it was pulling full skim again in under 24hrs.

How about an update on this skimmers performance from everyone. Its been a while and would love to hear how its been running.

My skimmer is still working great. My opinion of it hasn’t changed. If I would get a new skimmer it would probably be a Nyos skimmer just for the bling factor. Other wise I’m happy with my current skimmer.

Still pulling dark skim, is silent. Couldn't ask for more. I have two other icecaps (k2-50 & k2-160), the 160 performs exactly like the 120, the 50 is a budget nano skimmer and it's also working well on the frag tank ,but isn't in the same performance league as the larger siblings.
