Anyone feel like sharing their settings if they are using the Icecap 1k gyre pump for SPS tanks? I've got one in mine on random mode capped at 50%. Was wondering if anyone had any luck with any other modes?

Mine is in a IM Fusion Micro 30g Long and provides tons of flow, but i was thinking a more turbulent setting would work better?

I have one in a 45 gallon (27.5” length) with a mixed reef. I have it at 60% max random. For a while I was using the alternating gyre mode with the reverse set to 0. I found both propellers would pump forward with the reverse set to 0 and then I could control all time and flow parameters. I liked it fine, but then I went to the random so there was no longer any down time.

My SPS are doing very well as are the LPS. The fish seem to have fun in the random flow. I have considered purchasing the additional propellers and cages to have the true alternating gyre effect to create more back and forth randomness. Maybe for Christmas. :)

I also have dual returns running through VCA Random Flow Generators.

For flow, you really want to determine how your tank inhabitants react. Just because in my tank I can have my flow setup this or that way, it may work the same in your system based on a number of variables: aquascape, tank dimensions, pump placement, etc.

I have mine running random flow up to 90%. My tank consist of SPS, a few LPS, and zoanthids. Everything is doing fine (at least I think so and growing). Something else that will likely be a limiting factor with the amount of flow you can have in your tank is if you have a sand bed or not. With a sand bed, you will be limited on the amount of flow you can have.

Keep in mind that our little pump will never reach the amount of flow found in the wild. I think the main thing to think about is that you do not want to blast coral with direct flow.
