Icecap 1K gyre troubleshooting

I have a 1K gyre on my nano reef. The last few days it has become quite noisy, normally it's silent. It's making a whining sound coming from the pump. The sound goes away if I increase the flow but only if I turn it up to the point that my clownfish struggle. Suggestions on where to start? I cleaned it recently with citric acid but I can soak it again if need be.

It could just be due to the way it's put back together? I've had similar issues with Maxspect and Jebao gyres as well.
