Has anyone used the Icecap cute pumps. I have a standard 65gal reef tank. So it's three feet long, two feet deep and eighteen wide. Can I use the 1K over the 3K pump. All the reviews for the 3K pump are on tanks six feet long and two to three times the volume I have. I'm on a budget so every penny counts for me. Thank wife any input in advance.

I just pulled the trigger on the 1k for my 24x18 Waterbox 30.2. Excited to try something different being that I’ve been a big Ecotech person in the past.

Not sure if I like the gyre type pump. Not like a good old wave pump. You don't get the same effect. Think I wasted my money. I'll be selling mine.

Well that sucks, was it not enough flow being that you have a 65? Mines only a 30g cube so thinking it should be plenty

I agree 1k should be fine

Definitely enough flow without a doubt. It's just that I don't think I like the continuous spiral of the water. It's like having a whirlpool in your tank. At least a "wave maker" gives you that visual wavy effect. Not everything being blown in one direction. The 3k was absolute overkill in my tank.

@pjb9166 did you say you purchased the 3K and didnt like it or just didnt like the Gyre. I am thinking about 1K for the WaterBox 50 which is 3Feet long by 16 wide and 18 deep. Was wondering if that is enough.

@Fat Sacs how was your experience been so far?

The 3k first. I found that it was way to strong for a three foot by 18 inch wide 24 deep. Tank with softies. Now I just got a 90 gal. 48 inch x 18 x 24. Wish I kinda had the 3k now. As for not liking the Gyre... If you had one installed running in opposite to create a more random flow. I'd like it better. All it does is create a whirlpool running just one.

Thank you for your response. I understand now.

So I’m looking for a 1K on a 50Gallon Waterbox AIO. It’s display is 18 deep x 16 wide x 36 long. So what you are saying is, If it’s not for the whirlpool effect, one 1K should be enough for the Softie and LPS. If I add another it’s just for random flow.

Yes. I have mine mounted so it's shooting across the length of the tank. On the opposite side I have a Jebao wave maker randomly pulsing.
