Who else has an Icecap sump--in particular an Icecap 36XL. Is there a limit on flow through the sump? I'm pushing 1100gph and noticed my filter sock chamber is backing up. I think it is causing my klirs to run very frequently and ccasionally overflowing the klirs. There is also approximately 1 1/2" difference in water level between the filter sock chamber and the skimmer chamber. See pic. The cutout between sock and skimmer is at the bottom so I would expect the water level to be the same. What gives? Am I exceeding the capacity of the sump? Is there a mod I should consider?

BTW, I also realize I am probably keeping my sump level too high but I find that if I don't do so my return pumps draw air and spew microbubbles into the tank. Could this also be the source of my problem?

Water between sock chamber and skimmer chamber has since equalized on its own. Still seems like there is a lot of turbulance in the sock chamber.

So occasionally. I'd say couple times a week water appeara to backup in the sock chamber and there is about 1 1/2" difference in water level compared to the skimmer chamber. I can tell when this occurs because the klirs run much more frequently and I can hear water sloshing into the refugium and skimmer chambers through the emergency overflows.

Iv been looking to get to getting one of these sumps. Is the lvl in the refugium the same as the lvl in the skimmer area?

There are vertical slots between the refugium and skimmer chanbers resulting in the same water levels. The water level is set by adjusting a baffle between the skimmer and return chambers. My only complaint would be the refugium chamber is a little small. Not an issur for me as I just use the refugium as a pump chamber for my Pax Bellum reactor. I will try to snap a couple pictures tomorrow.

With skimmer and Klir fleece in place there wasn't much to see. They obstructed the view of everything. Took them both out to clean and alsk cleaned out the sump. Snapped some pics while they were out.

Forgot you had asked about the refugium and skimmer chamber levels. This is taken looking through the skimmer chamber toward the refugium chamber. Notice the vertical slots in betwwen the skimmer and refugium chamber.
