Here is my question, thinking about this pump. Max thickness is 5/8 inch glass for the magnet. My glass will be 3/4 inch so I feel like I may be pushing the limits as far as it being able to hold, so I was thinking about attaching it to the overflow glass which will be not as thick. Is there any reason that the magnet on these can not get wet? My thoughts are to attach 2 of them to the center overflow towards the bottom of the tank to keep the back side of my rock and my bare bottom free of debris. I was going to have 1 pointed from the center overflow to each end of the tank.

Thoughts?

Great question. I think you should solicit more opinions than mine, but I would be surprised if a magnet that is used ‘outside’ the tank in 99% of the applications has been over-engineered so that it would be safe long-term ‘inside’ the overflow. Just my two cents.

I have had nothing but headaches with these pumps and controllers!
OMG...I thought I was the only one... I reached out to Carlos so many times...so some odd reason...I am having problems just trying to programming them as advertised...NOT an easy method...and videos/instructions...forget it...

I know right, with the updated app. mine no longer do wifi and the controllers blink like an xmas tree. I have to link into blue tooth 6 times a day.

What did you end up doing? I just purchased 4ks and realized the box does say 5/8 in and I have 3/4 in like you. Did the magnets hold?

I have a 2K on 3/4 in glass with no problem, and that one has smaller magnets. I had my 3K on it for awhile too without any problems.

Both stayed right where I put them.

I think I know what’s going on as soon as you said 3k. Icecap released a new gen below. And only comes in 2k and 4k. And the box on these new 4ks says only 5/8 and that’s why I’m asking if the ones below will actually stick to 3/4 contrary to the packing.

I have 1/2 inch glass on my tank and I can barely pry this magnet off the glass lol.
It can probably hold on to much thicker.
I have the Icecap 4K. Also a Maxspect XF350.

Thanks. Appreciate the response. Looking for someone who actually has it mounted on 3/4 glass and gyre cranked up to see if it flies across the tank. lol.

The 2K (new model) and 3K (old model) have the same glass thickness specs. Both say 1/2 inch and they stick fine on 3/4 inch glass. Sure the 5/8 inch won't have an issue either.
