I know these ballests are considered to be the best, but what is the lifespan on them before they burn out or need to be replaced? I am considering buying a used one.

I had one that was still going strong for 10 years. Sold it when I moved. Had two more that were 5 years old and one that was 14 years old. The 14 year old ballast I had to service a year ago, but they did it for free (should have cost $60). Excellent ballast, and I would not be too concerned with age. Even if it does go out, you can send it in and they will repair it for $60 (or free maybe) and you will have a brand new ballast again.

I dont think you will have a problem, I have had one running almost everyday for 5+ years and know a few people that have had one a little longer.

Cant really put a life span on a electrical componet. For this most part if you take care of it then it should last a long time if you dont well it wont last you a long time

I have two that have been rebuilt once over a 12 year period. So I would figure 6-7 year life span on average.
