I’ve been relying on my IceCap pocket digital salinity tester for the past several months. I initially compared it to my refractory meter and they matched readings. I’ve noticed that when I make my weekly water change water, the IceCap had over time always having me add more salt than I normally would. I normally added 6 cups of salt, but slowly over time I realized I had started having to add about 3/4 cup more before the IceCap tested at 1.025, which was my goal.

Today, the IceCap tester my change water at 1.020 and I knew my change water couldn’t be that low. I pulled out my refractometer and it said my main aquarium was 1.032!

I went and bought a hydrometer and it confirmed my high salt reading. I kept testing with the IceCap and it is giving me different readings on the same water after I turn it off and back on.

Batteries are fine and I even put new ones in to be sure.

Has anyone else experienced this type of bad readings from the IceCap?
