I have a shallow lagoon tank that I have an IceCap Gyre 1k in. It’s too darn powerful for this shallow small tank (24”x24”x12”) but I found that if I run it in Alternating Gyre mode with 0.2 seconds for forward and reverse run and ramp up/down times it actually does a good job making a nice flow in the tank without destroying the sand. But that’s a lot of reversing the pump per day. Do people find this burns them out fast? What’s the lifetime for you if you tried this? Is it counter-recommended?

If I have to get rid of it I will but love the extra flow as I’m going for SPS.

We have ours going at 100% Gyre at 4 secs for over a year now with no issues. Can't speak to the 2 seconds.

That’s good to hear. The 2 seconds is switching twice as fast which could be damaging. But man it makes a beautiful wave that flows across.

anybody care to share their settings and placement locations? I have mine at 100% Random... would like to know what other settings seem to work well. I cant get sand to blow around much, but I am using CaribSea Hawaiian Black ( i think ) which has a fairly coarse grain size. I have a very full stocked SPS tank and would love to try out some more settings people have had success with.
