Icecap Gyre Reverse vs Invert Flow +other IC Gyre Programming Questions

The Icecap app has two settings that aren't entirely clear to me: "Invert Flow" or "Allow Reverse". Can someone tell me the difference?

Invert flow seems to be louder than reverse flow, both of which are louder than when these settings are turned off.

I have 2 new IC 2k gyres on my tank. What I would like to do is have one pump ramp up/down to 50-60% while the other stays at maybe 20-30%, then switch between the pumps. Is this possible to do?

I have tried a long sine wave preset and have the pump settings set so one is same and the other is opposite. But that isn't resulting in what I'm trying to achieve. I think the invert or reverse flow is closer, but I don't like the noise on invert/reverse setting. In this mode with either invert or reverse checked, one pump ramps up the regular direction, while the other shows negative flow.

Looking for similar info. Reverse is to loud. Presets on new controller are lacking.

I am currently using both of these settings. Allow reverse is exactly as it sounds, it allows the pump to run in the opposite direction. To see this in action, set the pump to run a sin wave. If you have this option off it’ll go say between 25-75%. If you turn it on, it’ll go from -75% to 75% (or whatever percentages you set). You’ll see the pump ramp up then back down. It’ll stop for a moment, then do the same but in reverse.

The invert pump is something I have set on one of my pumps. I have mine mounted on the back wall of my tank. I wanted to have the cords both points towards their respective corners (back left/right). So one of them is actually mounted upside down. Note, I believe I also had to swap the left and right (red/green) propellers on the unit I mounted upside down. The invert pump setting basically tells the unit to run backwards as forwards and vice versa.

With allow reverse turned on, and one pump set as inverted (and appropriately mounted) I can have my two pumps push water both forward and give good surface agitation and then shoot water downward to try and deal with any dead spots.

@Michael@CoralVue - Are there any instructional videos that specifically talk about reverse flow and how it works? Sounds like it may only actually work in Square Wave or Sine Wave types? What if I wanted to reverse in Constant or Random types?

In this video I think at about 3 minutes into it, Carlos talks about the invert and reverse.

Thanks, @Michael@CoralVue. The only thing that Carlos says about reverse in this video is that "this feature allows the pump to run forward and backward."

I'm looking for more specific information as to how the different flow types use the "Allow Reverse" feature when its turned on at the pump options level. @Kyle Bruin has a nice explanation of it in his post above. He talks about how when used with Sine Wave (with 25%-75% power) it will cycle 25% - 75% then back down, stop for a moment, then in reverse do -25% to -75% then back down, pause, repeat. That makes sense and is consistent with what I am seeing with my gyre 4k's.

I just wish there was more information out there on this topic that discusses exactly how it works, maybe with a graphical aid and what all flow types make use of the reverse option. Obviously Sine Wave does, but how about Square Wave or Random? What if I wanted to run in Constant in reverse, is that possible without having to manually go into the pump options and inverting the rotation?
