i am looking at upgrading my flow from two jebao ow-10 to something else. Has anyone had an icecap gyre. I hear they are very noisy. Is this true?

I have two IceCap Gyre 3K's
They are not noisy at all. In my experience if they're making noise they either need to be cleaned, or have air trapped inside the fins. Turn it off so the air escapes, turn it back on, and good to go :)

Mine was noisy a month in. Had to replace the propellers. Their customer service is bad too. Specifically a guy named Carlos, very condescending throughout my interaction with him.

I have a 1k in a 40b SPS only tank that sits 3' from my bed. The only time I hear the pump is if it has to be cleaned. It is also running the random pulse from a -100 to a +100 and no noise.

IME, it does get noisy if you don't clean it 1-2 month, and it gets dirty quick. Also, it's a pain to disassemble and reassemble for cleaning, and it has lots of parts to clean.

My other gripe is that it's kind of inconvenient to adjust the flow angle.

Above reasons made me sell it and go with a conventional power heads. :)

I have a 40 breeder would y’all recommend the 1k or the 3k
1K
I have a 3K in mine now (only because it's being transferred to my 75) and at 10% its blasting everything lol

I have the 3k and I can barely hear it sitting on my couch right next to it at 40%, my lfs has one in his 1200 gallon dt and it's able to get flow all the way across his tank at 100%. The 1k would probably be plenty but if you plan on upgrading your tank in the future the 3k isn't much more and you can just turn it down

I have a pair of 3k and they beat the Maxspect units IN my opinion.
