IceCap K1 Nano Skimmer cup overflowing

So This is the first tank I’ve had that I’ve used a skimmer.. i bought a icecap k1 nano after doing my research. Comes in, i set it up like the YouTube video from CoralVue says (don’t know if it was just me but i got absolutely no directions in the box) put it in my tank around 7-8 inches in.. and 24 hours later it keeps bubbling up and overflowing the cup... i have the gate all the way open btw.. i know about a break in time but I’m pretty sure this is not part of it lol.

Check the water height in the chamber. The skimmer may need to be elevated if its too deep into the water.
the hanging bracket can allow skimmer to be raised or lowered.
