My new build is a 120 planet aquariums tank that I want a decent amount of flow in as there will eventually be acros in the tank.
I am having a hard time deciding what powerheads to get. Anything over 150.00 a powerhead is not in the budget so have to work with what I can afford.
I would be willing to get an icecap 4k and then add a pump later. I really like icecap products and coralvue as a company is probably one of my favorites and I have much love for them!!
I was also looking at jebao slw 20 or slw 30. The problem with jebao is the bad reviews I have seen popping up lately. Although those pumps can be purchased off ebay and a 2 year warranty can be added for 7 dollars or something like that, but is it worth the hassel?
Another brand I was looking at was the reef breeders rp-m pump and the xoral box pumps.
What are your suggestions for the budget reefer? What experience do you have, that could help me make the right decision.

I like the icecap gyres but not the price of the newer ones. What are the dimensions of your 120? Also, is in mostly going to be an sps tank?

Also, the sicce voyagers are nice if you don't need the pump to be DC.

I have the Icecap 4K and switched from Tunze powerheads. I prefer the gyre to the regular powerheads! It is also interchangeable...first pump order with the controller, then you can add another Icecap 4k or 2k later with only the pump and attached it to the first purchased controller. I'm thinking of adding a 2K on the other side of my tank.

Until you can get another Icecap, you can supplement with some less expensive Jabeo powerheads for areas missing flow!

The tank is 48"x24"x24". I was looking at the sicce pumps but would prefer the DC controllable ones, I think they are the xtremes. Yes this will be SPS dominant tank.

Being able to add a second pump to the icecap Is one of the reasons I was looking to get them. 150.00 is much easier to afford then 300.00 250.00 or even 200.00.

Powerheads are ridiculously priced, in my opinion...and no where near the EcoTech prices! Tunze makes great powerheads with very good flow options for half the price...and I dare say, even better construction. But, I like the gyre better than any powerhead now that I have one on my tank!

These guys (even the smallest one) move around a ton of water so this could work too
